Welcome!

Thanks for joining us for our online Good Friday gathering. Welcome especially if you are visiting us for the first time. Please connect with us!

We pray that our time together this morning will lead us in our faith in Jesus Christ. Please follow the outline below, knowing that we are all doing this together.

Worship

About a week before Jesus was crucified, he was eating a meal in the town of Bethany. Among those reclining at the table was Lazarus. Jesus – who had said he is the resurrection and the life – had recently brought Lazarus back from the dead!

During the meal, Lazarus’ sister Mary responds in worship.

John 12 records that Mary took about a pound of expensive perfume – worth about a year’s wages – and anointed Jesus feet, wiping them with her hair. The whole house was filled with the beautiful fragrance of the perfume.

Mary, in her devotion and thanksgiving, unconsciously prepares Jesus for his death and burial, and Jesus honours her for it.

Saviour King

King Of Kings

Prayer

Jesus, we thank you that you left heaven to come to us. We praise you that you revealed your kingdom coming and we long to be part of it and experience it in its fullness. We confess that we often struggle to live according to your ways and thank you that we can find forgiveness in your name. We worship you as the King of Kings and ask that you reveal yourself to us today. Amen.

Bible Reading: Romans 5:6-10

Read together:

6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.

Talk

At the end of today’s Good Friday message, we will invite you to participate in communion. If you would like to take part in this, perhaps prepare the elements now so that you can share together later.
